The Origin of Life

This talk will have two parts to it.

The first part will discuss the origin and evolution of the genetic code followed by the origin and evolution of metabolism and will end by finding the organisms that could replicate, mutate and thus be subjected to natural selection in the earliest geochemical cycles on the ancient earth. Clays fit the bill.

The second part will deal with the cellular automata that model the evolving Clays and will deal with reaction and diffusion on the clay surfaces, inhomogeneous cellular automata (INCA) and Ising Spin Glasses. The talk will end with a discussion on selection as a problem yet to be solved.
